Comments about Conair Thinner reg Soft Touch Scale:
Story about the scale: I'm a very competitive wrestler, that means that I HAVE to be in a certain weight class. If I am off by as much as 0.3 lbs that means I have to compete in a higher weight class or forfeit my match. I've weighed 165.4 and had to wrestle at 174 in the past. I can't emphasize enough how important accuracy is for me. Wrestling scales average around $400-800....which is beyond what any reasonable consumer would pay.
That being said, my scale measures to the nearest 0.5lbs. (I bought it Dec 2003, now it is Dec 2007) As of earlier this month, I weighed myself right after a shower in the conditions that I would normally weigh in at. I weighed 160.0 (cut off is 160.0, 160.1 would have forced me to either cut wt and come back to weigh in or forfeit) When I went to weigh in using a professional (read: $600+ wt only scale) I was exactly 160.0 The scale is 4 years old and is still right on target!!! Take it with a grain of salt though. It is only accurate to the nearest 0.5lb. But it is dead on. Batteries are finally giving in because I keep my weight very tightly supervised so I'm off to buy a new scale. This is the most accurate scale I've ever bought, and the longevity is stunning. Mine was a bit ugly, having pinkish tones on plastic. But the product was infallible. I should probably send it back as a prototype to make sure conair makes all scales this accurate!
