Absolutely love this product. Haven't found anything that works better on curly, frizzy hair. I live in South Georgia where it is very humid. I can control the frizz and still have some body without completely straightening my hair. The only drawback is that I too have had to replace it about every 3-4 months. Product either needs to be more durable or less costly.

I live in HUMID Florida and my hair reacts promptly ! Frizz, waves return as soon as I walk out the door, UNLESS I use this Hair Designer...nothing works as well..Thank God i had purchased a replacement prior to my first one dying. I panic without it !! I WILL NOT travel without it !It completely calms the frizz and smoothes out my waves.I'm going to order a new one now as my #2 dryer is about due to go kaput !My only complaint...shorter life than I would expect...but I love it and do recommend it to friends !

This has helped my hair like nothing else. There's a little bit of a learning curve, but it dries and straightens my thick, frizzy hair and much faster than doing the two things separately. It could use a higher tension setting but it does work really well.

However, the motor burned out after less than a year (looks like other people have had this problem, too) and I had to buy another because I couldn't find the receipt. So make sure you keep the warranty information!

I bought it to tame my curly/frizzy hair from time to time. I didn't use it often, but when I did, it was great. Nice style, with relatively small effort. However, it didn't last long - perhaps thirty uses at best. I would easily recommend to a friend if I were sure it wouldn't quit working quickly.

I have had my dryer for almost 3 years and it is still going strong. I have relaxed hair but after washing and drying, I always had to go in with a flat iron. It took a few times to learn to use it but once I got the hang of it, I no longer needed to flat iron. I like that I can go longer between relaxer touch-ups because I can get my roots straight quickly and easily. I know after three years, my dryer can go at any time so I am happy that you have not discontinued it. I thought because I could not find it in the stores that you didnt make it anymore. DON'T EVEN THINK OF DISCONTINUING IT!!!

I absolutely love this product, but I have had to buy a new one (no kidding) every four months. Why buy another one instead of an alternative? Because it works better than anything else even with the short life span.The first time I thought I had a defective one, but absolutely every dryer (8 so far) has died in less than four months.Ridiculous. I always have an extra on hand, because nothing works like it. Funny thing is, I let my hair mostly air dry and use this to finish it off and they still burn out quick. But the finished look and ease of use cannot be compared with anything else. I buy two at a time so I am never without. I wish for it to have a longer life span and that it is NEVER discontinued.

It didn't really work as well on me, but it could just be my hair type because I tried it on my friend and she just has wavy-ish hair, but it worked great on her and made her hair reallly straight. I still have to use my straightening iron after drying but it cuts down on the time it takes to straighten it. Tames most of the frizz and dries fast even though my hair is thick. The only problem i have with it is that i am on my 3rd one, it tends to burn out quickly. But for my thick, very curly and frizzy hair it is the best dryer I have used so far so I keep buying them.

I have long, very curly, but fine hair. I use this to dry and relax and sometimes straighten my hair. It does save time and is easy. I like to use a curling iron or flat iron afterward on some parts of my hair. Mine is now broke after less than three years. Okay, I'll admit that this product didn't even look like something I would use for an afro. It has teeth (surely they would snag?) it claimed to straighten with air (oh yeah sure?) and it claimed to work on wet or dry hair (oh,brother I must be desperate now).

So I purchased it. I took it home and was so confident that I would be returning it I took great pains to not damage the box and taped the receipt to the front thinking I'd be back at the retailers returning this baby ASAP.

Well imagine my shock when my extra super curly African hair was firmly grasped and not snagged by this dryer. Imagine my further surprise when the low heat setting was enough to unkink the kinkiest of spiral curls and coils.

Afro blows out were never for the timid, they took a glass of wine and at least 60 minutes with a dryer, a boar brush and a ton of upper body strength (Hold that arm up, keep it up, keep it up). I used this Conair dryer and it took me less than 20 minutes. That's right folks. 20 minutes. That’s at least 40 minutes of my life back.

It couldn't be easier to hold or to use. And compared to my other hair dryer, this is a quite puppy. Don't wake the baby. :-)

In the weeks that have followed I've used this dryer almost daily without any adverse effects on my hair.

Now for the cons/negatives/annoyances type stuff.

I have found that it will not dry my hair as quickly as a blow dryer would. If my hair is just from the shower I find I’m better off towel drying and letting it air dry for about 10 minutes before I use this dryer. It just doesn't have the speed of a 1750 watt dryer.

I have not had hair snags, but I could see the potential for some people having it snag their hair. This would depend on how hairs thickness and texture. Unfortunately there is not way to predict this.

I didn't have a problem with the tension gauge on the machine. However, my sister who relaxes her hair did. So...again your results may vary on this.

Is this dryer causing shine or is that my hair products? In any case I can't say that the shine factor is better here than with my older dryer. Sorry folks, but I'm not going to lie myself to seeing shiny flowing locks.

Low setting is great, like a cool evening on the beach. Hot setting is the Sahara desert at high noon. I’m not sure who decided on the temperature of the hot setting, but they must have lava for blood.

In summary, I’ve found my new best friend and will be very upset if this product should ever stop working. I’m loving not having to develop the biceps to finish a hairdo.

I had this for about 2 months before it broke. It worked alright, but it was so dang NOISY! Also, when I used it, it gave off this burning smell, and eventually (after 2 months) it sort of burned out. It also didn't straighten my hair very good and for very long, and it took about 40 minutes to dry. Another big concern is that it doesn't work on dry hair. I used this at night (I simply couldn't take 40 minutes to straighten my hair each morning) but my hair dents a bit when I sleep. So I tried to use this just to go ever the bumps, and it didn't work. Overall, this made my hair flat, frizzy, and weird. I don't recommend this.

I have used this product regularly for over a year and I love it! I have tried everything to straighten my hair and have found other appliances either bulky or as if I needed another hand. Because it dries as it styles, it's great for people like myself who don't enjoy spending hours on their hair. I color my hair so was worried about extra damage from the heat but this has not been the case. My hair actually looks and feels better after use. A wonderful product!

I can not tell you when I have used my curling iron BECAUSE I do not have to....NOT WITH THIS! My Granddaughter loved it so much I bought another for her, she has curly hair and was able to straighten her hair WITHOUT a straightener and it looked GREAT! I have not found one BAD thing about this item. I am the proud owner now of TWO. I keep one in my travel bag so I NEVER forget to take it with me. I used this one time and I was hooked. I can't do my hair without it anymore. My hair used to look damaged and thin and dull. When I use this my hair looks shiny, healthy, and full of body. I love it. The only problem is that I keep having to replace it every 6 months because the motor just stops working. I think it is a combination of hair getting sucked up through the vent and also it just gets too hot and wears out. I loved this styler when I first had it. It made my curly hair look as if I'd used straighteners (I can never get it as pin straight as my hairdresser blow-dries it, even if I blow-dry carefully, then straighten).

However, after a few months on the third tension setting, I've noticed that my hair has lost all its elasticity, resulting in it having an unnatural spring-like curl at the ends - almost as if I've used a blade to create one of those ribbon curls. I've since used it on the lowest tension setting & the results are similar, but so is the damage!

I'd already decided to limit using it to occasions when I'd need a more polished look, but a few days ago when one of those days called for a sleeker look, I turned my styler on to be greeted with a strange noise & a sudden burning smell!

I'm hoping that the guarantee will be honoured as I've lost my receipt but the styler is less than a year old.

** I would only recommend this if usage is limited to special occasions **

I use this prodct because I have swim practice at night and I don't feel like getting up earlier than I already have to during the school year and it works great. The only thing id you can't use it when your hair is soaked you have to use it when it's have wet. For me that take a while sometimes but then it doesn't take very long to straighten your hair.

I purchased this product about 4 months ago. At first, I was a bit hesitant to do so since I had read numerous negative reviews which pin-pointed different defects of the product. Regardless, I went ahead and bought it. After using it multiple times, I have to say it is not half bad at all! I have thin hair, but very difficult to manage; it suffers from a genetic defect of frizziness and uncontrollable baby hair! I have used this product multiple times, and it has become a must have for my daily hair routine.

If you follow the instructions accordingly, you will get good results. Keep in mind, though, that this does not replace a straightening iron. This is more so a product that will effectively dry your hair in a shorter period of time than if done with a blow-drier. If you want to keep some volume to your hair and not have that stick-straight look, then you can definitely rely on this product to do so. Yet, if you are expecting this to replace that good ol' flat iron, then you are most likely not going to get the results you want.

Here's a tip: Blow-drying your hair with this product is definitely a time efficient tool. After drying it, you can straighten it with a flat iron, and afterwards go over it with this tool again to create a more voluminous look.

On another note, as for this being a defective product, I think it all depends on how you take care of it. I have owned it for 4 months, as aforementioned, and have had no technical problems with it. If I ever do, I'll keep you posted. From what I can tell, though, it's not likely to happen.

Overall, I highly recommend this product. Just keep in mind what I said above, and that this is all based on my experience (hence, it's my personal opinion). I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

I have thick, curly, frizzy hair and have been searching for that "special something" to tame my locks and keep me from cursing at my hair as I try to style it. I was so excited to try this product. With the utmost of optimism I sat on my couch and section by section tamed "the beast." It straightened my hair with ease, I didn't have to fight with a blowdryer, round brush and straightener. I thought I had died and gone to straight-hair heaven. Well, something died, the blowdryer, after about 2 months! This is my 4th Conair dryer so I am hoping it's just a fluke. Of course, I have thrown away the receipt and the box so now I have a very expensive, "dead" hairdryer. I miss it. I may replace it, but this time I will hold onto my receipt and the box. I loved this straightener for the 3 times that it worked but then it broke. So then i sent it back and Conair sent me a new one... that one broke the 2nd time that I used it. Then i sent it back again and they sent me another straightener and to no suppress that one broke too. They had to send me the same straightener 3 times and it continued to break. I asked the women if it was me that was doing something wrong and she told me everything that I should have done and should do to get it started again and we found that I didn't do anything wrong and it wasn't going to start. So i do not at all recommend this to anyone... there are much better ones out there.

The greatest things about conair is that it dosn't burn me, it heats up real fast and you can change the setting to your liking.

The anwser is yes!!I am a complete klutz when it comes to my hair. I was able to do my shoulder length, thick hair in 20 minutes.I wash my hair every other day and when I style it always looks frizzy on the ends. The next morning after I'll wake up with serious bed head. I only used this product four times to realize it doesn't hold its strait look very long. And that's all the time it had to last before mine died! I have long hair, and after my 4th use one of my hairs got sucked up the back of the product and started burning! I have very thick, frizzy, curly hair...and for the last 20 years, I've kept it short to accommodate those characteristics. In the last year I decided to let my hair grow out to see if there were some "bob" variations that might work.
Even good cuts and good products were not enough...every appliance l tried failed to produce good results. I bought this product convinced that it would straighten my hair to look sleek and smooth but, it ended up damaging my hair and making it MORE frizzy. I had higher expectations of this product and it turned out terribly. The videos show that it makes the hair stick straight and that apparently was false advertisement. This product did not work for me.

I had Brain Surgery in 2001 and recently extensive neck surgery which included a titanium plate being added. It is very difficult and painful for me to hold my hands above my head so I have been unable to do my hair for some time now. Salons are out of the question due to bending over the sinks to wash my hair and style it is to painful, tried it and couldn't go back, so pony tail is the style I have had to settle for and it is very Ugly Betty. For your company to make something that dries, straightens, and styles my hair within minutes without pain is an answer to this womens prayers. For someone whos self esteem had hit rock bottom to be able to look in the mirror and see her old self is more than words can describe. I thank your company for thinking about the special needs people, the ones with arthritis, and MS, Chiari Malformation which I have, and other crippling diseases, is to be applauded. More companies need to think about how we too want to look beautiful and how difficult it can be with all the gadgets out there, even a blow dryer was to difficult for me, this has made a women feel like a whole women again, and for that I Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was thinking about buying it, but it was quite expensive. When my 11 year old daughter saw the commercial and was excited about getting it, I decided to go ahead. Her hair is like mine, curly, frizzy, but twice as thick as mine. This product dries her hair quicker, and gets it mostly straight. But it does not take one hand like the ad says, and she still can't figure it out on her own, so I have to do her hair for her. But the results are definitely worth it. I use it too, and my hair gets slightly straighter than before, and takes about the same amount of time as before.

I have been searching for something to tame my frizzy hair and had all but given up. Serums and other products leave my fine, wavy, shoulder-length hair feeling heavy and chaulky and looking dull. I have that just stuck my finger in a light socket look if I just dry my hair normally but with this my hair is awesome I have gotten compliments on how nice my hair is and I havent heard that in a while. I have naturally curly/wavy hair. A bit thick. I straighten my hair with a blow dryer, round brish and flat iron. I get good results. I thought this Conair product was difficult to get the hang of. And I wished it had different bristles it. I get much sleeker results when I straighten my hair the way I typically do. I'm still on the fence about it but I think for most people it would be a waste of good money. It's okay but not the best. Of course I wasn't expecting the results the box shows. I am realistic and know that doesn't happen. Yes, you still have to use straightening cream and a flat iron. Duh. This isn't a miracle product. Anyone who thinks so doesn't know the work it takes to get straight and sleek hair when your hair is NOT naturally straight. Maybe I just need to get use to the dryer. 700 watts isn't a lot. It still took me 45 min to dry my hair but I didn't have to hold a blow dryer and brush. All in all- all I have to say is "eh".

I wash my hair at a minimum of once a week. I have frizzy, wavy and thick hair. This product does the job in a snap. It is very light to hold and will dry and straighten my hair in no time at all. The texture of my hair is very smooth after use. I absolutely love it and strongly recommend it!!

I bought this for my 10 yr. old so she could learn to do her own hair. It is good because it doesn't get to hot and there is only one thing she has to handle...not a dryer, brush and straight iron. I only wish the "bristles" either had another bar over them to hold the hair in place (more like a conventional straightner) or that the "bristles" were closer together.

I got this as a gift for my sister in Mexico. I wanted to see if it really did the work and it does! It just leaves you hair a bit fuzzy on the first try; I had to use my chi to smooth the hair down. But after this, I used it everyday just to retouch my hair and it made it shiny and gave some volume to it.

I struggled with this product the first few times. Once I got the hang of it I fell in love. I have problems with my arms and this product saved me time and energy. I no longer have to use a round brush and blow dryer. This product is lightweight and very versatile. I have even "curled" my hair but simply rolling the tool in an upward motion. Just be careful when unrolling as I have pulled out a good bit of hair. I love the way you can get right at the roots. I have had problems with static but a little bit of hair serum seems to do the trick. I am purchasing one for a friend who saw mine and saw what it has done for me.

I like the product and it dried my hair in no time. The only suggestion I would make is to have the drying feature be able to be turned off when you are done so you can use it a little more like a flat iron. I noticed that when I wanted to get my hair a little flatter it blew all over the place which caused it to become frizzy.

The best serum out there is Biosilk Silk Therapy. I use it on my damp hair and also after I dry it.

I would normaly use a flat iron simply because it was faster than using a blow dryer and brush. Using only my flat iron it would take me 45 to an hour to straighten my hair and i would have no volume, I have naturally curly hair so using this product it take me 10-15 to dry and straighten although i still have to use my flat iron to go over it and that takes me only 10 minutes additional and it gives me the volume i like. cuts my time in half and with better results! Add a bit of serum and your good to go!

I have 2 teenage girls with very thick hair, this product has done wonders in just minutes. It dont take no where as long as the other type of straightners and it works real well with keeping the shape they want, when using Tresemme' Straightening gel, thermal creations. We have done a lot of experimenting with the other straightner and we never could get these types of results.

I love that this product dries my relatively thick hair in only about 5-7 minutes. I'm not one to blow-dry my hair daily, because it usually takes so long, but not with this product. My only complaint is that it does not leave your hair quite as smooth as a flat iron would, but I'm experementing with styling products (serums, creams, etc.) to see what works best. Would anyone have any recommendations on styling products?

This product is definitley not worth the money. It works no better than a regular hair dryer. It's a little awkward to use and the result was the same frizzy hair I get with a hair dryer. I still have to go over it with my flat iron. What you see on t.v. is NOT what you get at home. I guess if your hair is only a little wavy and not naturally curly like mine it would work ok.
