The smallest iron works well if you have lots of time and a lot of hair spray to hold the curl. I have long, fine hair and the large curling iron didn't even make a single curl in my hair or any of my three sisters' hair. The medium iron curls initially, by the curls come out pretty fast. These were the first irons I've used and they were good to learn on, but I think I'm ready to get a better curling iron. They're metal and I couldn't use them to often because I was afraid they'd fry my hair.
